With Scratchpad's Free plan, you can update 25 records an unlimited number of times during the week (Sunday-Saturday). Here's what you can do if you've already reached your weekly update limit.

What is a record?

In Scratchpad, you'll see your Salesforce Objects (Your page may look different if your company uses custom objects). A record is an individual instance of an object. For example, a specific opportunity is an instance of your Opportunity object. Or a specific contact is one record of your Contact object.

As a rule of thumb, if it's something you can create or update in Salesforce, it's probably a record.

What counts as a record update?

  • Creating a new record

  • Editing fields on a record

  • Completing or deleting a task (Tasks are a type of record)

You can edit one or one hundred fields on a record and it will count as one record update.

Tip: You can create, update, and link your Scratchpad notes to Salesforce as often as you like. Scratchpad Notes DO NOT count against your record updates.

A few examples:

Scenario 1:

On an average week:

  • You are working 7 opportunities

  • You have to update your Next Steps, Next Meeting, Decision Maker, and Stage fields as you have meetings with the client.

  • You do not use salesforce tasks to keep track of next steps

Total updates: 7

  • 7 updates by adding Next Steps, Next Meeting, Decision Maker, and Stage fields on your 7 opportunities.

Scenario 2:

On an average week:

  • You are working 25 opportunities

  • You have to update your Next Steps, Next Meeting, Decision Maker, and Stage fields as you have meetings with the client.

  • You have to log an event for your calls with the client, you have 3 calls related to each opportunity this week.

Total Updates: 100

  • 25 updates because you modified fields on all 25 of your opportunities.

  • 75 updates because you created 3 events for the 3 calls you had with each of your 25 opportunities.

Scenario 3:

On an average week:

  • You are working 7 leads and update the Phone Number, Role, and Company Name for these Leads.

  • You schedule demos as tasks for 5 of the Leads

  • You create 3 Opportunities

  • You want to follow up with 2 of these Opportunities next week

Total Updates: 17

  • 7 updates from updating the Phone Number, Role, and Company Name on your leads.

  • 5 updates from creating 5 tasks to schedule a demo

  • 3 updates when you create the 3 opportunities

  • 2 updates when you create 2 follow up tasks
