(Beta) View Emails in Scratchpad

Learn how to view synced Gmail conversations, directly from within Scratchpad

Updated this week

Overview

Easily access recent Gmail conversations directly from your Scratchpad records. The Email tab brings deal-critical context into one place so you can stay focused, informed, and prepared - without digging through your inbox.

How to View Emails

  1. Ensure the Google Integration is enabled

  2. Open an Account, Contact, or Opportunity record in Scratchpad

  3. Go to the Email tab within Expanded View

  4. You’ll see a list of email threads, sorted by the most recent message

  5. Click into any thread to see full details including participants, timestamps, and the full email body

Please note, Scratchpad will sync the last 30 days of emails by default when the Google Integration is connected.

Email Tagging and Resyncing

Scratchpad automatically links emails to the right Salesforce records based on your existing data. Here's how it works - and what to do if something doesn't show up as expected.

How Emails Are Tagged

When emails sync from Gmail, we use Salesforce data to determine where to show them:

  • First, we match the email addresses to Contacts in Salesforce

  • Then, we look for open Opportunities tied to the related Contact Role, and link the email to that Opportunity and its related Account

  • If no open Opportunity is found, then email links to the Contact’s Account and the first open Open opportunity

This process is automatic and updates daily, so as long as the Salesforce data is accurate, your emails should show up where they belong.

Fixing Missing or Mislinked Emails

If an email isn’t showing up or appears on the wrong record, it likely means some Salesforce data is missing or misaligned.

To correct the issue, review the following steps and then run a manual resync:

  1. Check that the email was sent or received through your Gmail account and falls within the last 14 days (only these are included in a manual resync)

  2. Verify that the Contact exists in Salesforce and is linked to the right Account and/or Opportunity via Contact Role

  3. Once updated, click the Resync arrow in the top-right to reprocess your email activity

After resyncing, the email should appear correctly based on the updated data.
