Today we rely on person to person communication to relay changes to opportunities, new accounts, close dates, and the list goes on. We are all human, and sometimes forget! This leads to gaps in communication which leads to wasted time, missing data, and lost revenue. That's where Scratchpad automations come in. You can create automations on standard and custom objects.
Change-Based, Real-Time Automations
Navigate to Automations within your Scratchpad Navigation Sidebar
Select + New Automation in the top right, then Start from scratch
Customize your Automation
Title: Name your automation, this will be the title of the notification sent out
Automation Type: Select Change Based to be notified when there is a change in real time (notification received within 10 minutes of the change)
Object: The Salesforce object you want to base the Automation on, then set to is created or has changed (field of your choice)
Conditions: These are the parameters for your Automation
Add the condition "Closed is False" for Automations on the Opportunity object to avoid receiving notifications for Closed Opportunities
Delivery Methods: Select who will receive notifications and how
Notification: Customize the message your recipients will see in Slack or Scratchpad Inbox
Click Save
Scheduled Automations
Navigate to Automations within your Scratchpad Navigation Sidebar
Select + New Automation in the top right, then Start from scratch
Customize your Automation
Title: Name your automation, this will be the title of the notification sent out
Automation Type: Select Scheduled to be notified at your desired day and time. The timezone will automatically match your organization’s Salesforce timezone
Object: The Salesforce object you want to base the Automation on
Conditions: These are the parameters for your Automation
Add the condition "Closed is False" for Automations on the Opportunity object to avoid receiving notifications for Closed Opportunities
Delivery Methods: Select who will receive notifications and how
Notification: Customize the message your recipients will see in Slack or Scratchpad Inbox
Click Save
Send Automations to Slack
Send notifications to Slack Channels or Direct Messages to highlight Closed Won deals, remind reps to update action items, or keep yourself in the loop of any deal changes. You can even update the Salesforce records right from Slack!
Individual Notifications
Follow the steps to create a Change-Based or Scheduled Automation
Under Delivery Methods, toggle on Slack and uncheck Bundle Notifications
Select a User to Direct Message, or select the Slack Channel you want to push the notification to
Under Welcome Message, select the Fields in Slack that you would like to populate within your Automation
Select an Action Button (Org-Wide Tile) to make it easy for reps to update fields within your selected Object, right from Slack!

Bundled Notifications
When creating Scheduled Automations, you have the option to bundle the notifications so the receiver simply gets one Slack notification versus a notification for every single record. After toggling on Slack under Delivery Methods, you will see that Bundle Notifications is automatically selected.
When the user receives the notification, they will see the option to Open in Grid. This button will open up a grid view of the records in their Scratchpad Pipeline and the user will have the option to Save a copy to list, which will save the view in their "My Views" section. Any changes made to this view will remain for any future notifications, unless the Automation is edited.
