Scratchpad Command Overview


Scratchpad Command is a quick-access keyboard shortcut that lets you search, create, and update Salesforce records without switching tabs.

It works on any webpage - Gmail, Google Calendar, LinkedIn, Slack, and more - so you can stay in your workflow while keeping Salesforce up to date. You can even complete workflows like progressing deal stages, logging a call, or creating tasks with just a few clicks.

Enabling Scratchpad Command


  1. Navigate to Settings in the bottom-left corner of your Scratchpad homepage

  2. Select Integrations on the left menu bar and add Scratchpad Command

Once enabled, you can use the shortcut CMD+J (Mac) or CTRL+J (PC) to launch Command from any browser tab.

Using Scratchpad Command


Search or Update Records

Use Command to quickly look up and edit Salesforce records:

  • Opportunities

  • Contacts

  • Accounts

  • Leads

  • Tasks

  • and more

Just type to search, open the record, and edit fields inline - changes sync instantly to Salesforce.

Create New Records

From the Command window, select what you want to create:

  • New Opportunity

  • New Task

  • New Account

  • And more...

Use the gear icon > Fields and Related Lists to customize which fields appear when creating records.

Use Tiles for Quick Actions

Tiles are shortcuts for common workflows like:

  • Advancing deal stages

  • Logging calls or meetings

  • Creating follow-up tasks

  • Viewing activity history

Tiles can be customized by you or your team.

Command works seamlessly with tools like:

Google Mail

Google Calendar

Google Sheets

Tableau

Slack

For this workflow, you will have to use Slack in your browser, not the app

FAQ


Can you search for records under a custom object through Command?

This is not possible as of today, you would have to search the main object that it is related to surface it

Is the layout of Scratchpad Command customizable?

As of today, you are not able to customize the layout of Command

Can you change what populates next to the Command search result?

This is not configurable at the moment. For Opportunities, Accounts, Contacts and Tasks, we show Stage, Account Owner, Email, and Description, respectively.
